Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) indicated inferior vena cava (IVC) collapse due to severe mechanical liver displacement. Since the IVC injury could result in massive bleeding, the circulation was maintained with a rapid transfusion while observing the TEE. TEE also detected fluid accumulation in the right thoracic cavity.
